Do you offer any discounts?
Yes, we are currently offering a 10% discount on locking in 2 packages up front and a 15% discount on locking in 3 months upfront. So if you know you're going to commit to more than one package with us, then it can definitely make sense to take advantage of these discounts. If you'd like to do so, just let our team know and we'll set this up for you.
Will you create the video content for my ads for me?
We don't currently offer content creation as a core offering in any of our packages, that being said, we do have a freelance video editor on our team that you can outsource video creation to. He charges $50 for the first piece of content and $25 for any additional pieces of content as long as it's using the same section of the song. If it's a different section, it'd be $50 again. This is an excellent route to go if you're having issues making content or coming up with ideas. We've seen his content make massive differences for many of our clients since we brought him onto the team. If you're interested in this, just let our customer success team know, and we'll quote you a price and get working on them!
What’s a good budget for my campaign?
Typically we suggest starting with around $250-500 in ad spend. The closer to $500 the better but never less than $250. We want to make sure we have enough budget to properly test all aspects of the campaign out. The song sections, the video content, the audiences, etc. But we also never want to commit more budget to a song than it deserves. So that's why we like to limit ourselves to around $500 max until we validate the song/campaign is worth more spend. If it's crushing it and the $500 spend does great, then that opens the door to investing a lot more into that song over the long term.
What content tends to perform best?
It definitely depends on the artist and style of music, but typically the content that works best tends to be relatable, aesthetically pleasing, and not too much in your face. Interestingly we've seen more tik tok style videos do better than high budget music videos in our years running the agency. Our thesis is that people don't want to have your music shoved down their throats, we want to appeal to them without being pushy and just allow the song to sell itself. After all, we're trying to get people to stream the song above everything else. There's a lot to say about content, but typically we suggest our artists just send us over everything we have and we'll start there. If we find a big winner, great! We'll commit to it and test other variables, but if we don't find a big winner or feel we could improve on content, we'll put the majority of our efforts there before testing other variables like audience targeting as content is arguably the most important aspect to having a successful campaign. If you have any other questions about content, feel free to message our support team and we're happy to share any insights we may have.
Do you offer/do playlisting?
No. We are against artists participating in 3rd party playlisting, we don't recommend to any of our artists to buy or pitch to playlists, and we don't pitch to playlists for any of our clients either. The reason why we are against playlisting is 1. We don't know which playlists are real and which ones are bots. 2. It's against Spotify's TOS to purchase playlist slots, so the bot risk + the rule breaking drastically increases the risk of getting your music flagged. 3. Even if it is a legit playlist, it's the difference of passive listeners vs. active listeners, which is all of the difference in the world.
Ads like Instagram Ads all require the user to make an active decision to seek your music out. We can't force them to click on your song, they have to see our ad and make that decision themselves. Because of this, we get to validate that every person who does click over to Spotify has a very high likelihood of enjoying your song. This means we get to drive only the highest quality data to your song which will drastically benefit the algorithm over the long run. With playlists, it's all passive listeners. Nobody is streaming your song in playlist because your song is in there. They're just shuffling the playlist when they're in the car, studying, working out, etc. So the odds of them taking the high engagement actions such as following you on Spotify, going to your social media, saving the song, etc, is much, much lower than it is when we're targeting active audiences. All in all, we would much rather help build you from 0 to 1,000 monthly listeners and have those 1,000 listeners all be actively engaged real fans, than build you to 10,000 listeners and only 1,000 of those are actively engaged listeners. Because then we're diluting down your algorithm by about 90%. It's just fluff, and has a high likelihood of hurting your algorithm more than helping it long term. Therefore, we've found it's best to just steer clear and play the consistent, real growth game.
How often will I get progress reports over the course of the month of my package?
There are two set dates where we will reach out to you after the campaign starts. About 15 days in and the final day of the campaign. That being said, we don't limit your ability to reach out to us. Some of our clients have a lot of questions and reach out to us many times over the course of the month to ask questions or request updates. Others choose not to message us at all unless we reach out first. It's totally up to you how much you want to reach out!
Do I have to pay to continue to run a campaign(s) we’ve run in the past?
Yes. In essence, you're hiring us to create a campaign for you and then manage that campaign for one month from our start date. We bundle in the campaign creation fee, at no additional costs, to all of our packages. So if you wanted to hire us to run the same campaign again, it'd be the same cost. Regardless of whether or not we've already ran that campaign before. That being said, it's your campaign on your own account. We'll never delete your campaigns, so if you feel comfortable with it, feel free to take it over and manage it yourself!
How much does it take to get a million streams on Spotify?
There's no real set dollar amount that can guarantee you get 1m streams. A ton of factors come into play when talking about goals like these. Such as: over what time period? What countries are we promoting in? How well is the song performing? Is the algorithm pushing the song already? Etc. So while we can't really give you any estimate on a question like this, the best we can describe it is this: it's more of a question of how quickly will you reach 1m streams when you song is streaming well rather than will you reach 1m streams. A song that does 200 streams a day is on pace to hit 1m streams. It'll just take around 14 years to do so at that pace! So it's far better to ask questions like "how can we take this song from 500 streams a day to 1,000 streams a day" rather than ask how do we hit 1m. Let's just take things step by step and not get too far ahead of ourselves. I've seen $200 budgets get 5m+ streams in a few years. It all comes down to performance and timeline.
How long does it take to see a return on my investment?
This is an excellent question with a very complex answer. Similar to the 1m stream question, in reality this is real organic promotion so there are no guarantees. The best way we've found to explain the ROI is by comparing it to real estate. Let's say you want to buy a $250,000 property and you think you can rent it out for $500/mo profit. You put 10% down on the house so now you're -$25,000 in the house. It'd take you 50 months to make your money back strictly from the cash flow you're making from renting the property. But, if you take care of the house, renovate it, etc, houses tend to increase in value. So 4 years later, maybe the house is now worth $400,000. So you can sell it for $150,000 profit, get your $25,000 downpayment back and have profited all the cash flow too. Investing into music is very similar. Although, there is no guarantee you're going to build a nice house. That's the risk. That being said, if you truly do make incredible music, we've consistently seen the ROI be far far greater on music than it is in real estate. We suggest to look at it more like, okay right now I'm making $50/mo. How do I make this $200? Then once you're at $200, okay how do I make it $500? Even if it takes $15,000 to make $500/mo, you'll make your money back in full in 30 months. Not to mention, you may be able to sell your catalog off for anywhere from a 3-10x multiple to an investor (similar to selling the house). So we suggest to look less at how much you're putting in, and more at how much you're making back and how much your catalog is likely worth if you were to sell it to an investor. That'll give you a much more realistic idea on how the ROI looks long term.
What is your general audience targeting strategy?
We typically start most of our clients out with a more global approach, targeting about 70% of the countries Spotify is located in. That way, we can cast a wide net and see where your music is resonating most around the world. After all, Spotify is a global marketplace and you're leaving A TON of potential listeners on the table by limiting the locations you're promoting in. Lastly, by targeting globally we give ourselves a higher likelihood of sparking Spotify's algorithm. Which tends to push you out in high tier countries the most anyways. So all in all, we find targeting globally to be the most effective way to build our clients initial fanbases and get them more integrated into Spotify's algorithm. From there, we can begin to narrow down on our priority markets.
Do you offer Tik Tok or YouTube marketing?
Not currently. Although our advertising team absolutely knows how to run ads on virtually all platforms, we have yet to find a stronger more cost effective platform than Facebook Ads when it comes to pushing your music. We get more cost effective results and just flat out the most bang for your buck from them, so that's our focus. We also tend to work with audience sizes in the tens of millions. So you could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars through Facebook Ads before you really need to consider diversifying your spend. Not to mention, since we do focus 100% of our efforts on Facebook, we've become true experts at running campaigns on their platform. We're confident we're one of, if not the best Facebook Ad Agencies in the game because of this.
Do you offer custom packages?
Yes, we are more than happy to create custom packages to better suit your needs if our base packages aren't the right fit for you. If you think you need a custom package, just message our support team and we'll gladly work up something more custom for you.
What platforms do the ads run on?
Although we do use the Facebook Ads Business Manager to setup and manage our campaigns, 100% of our ads for our clients run through Instagram (unless our client specifically wants Facebook). We find we get stronger results from Instagram, plus the vast majority of artists we work with would rather grow their Instagram Page than Facebook Page. So we effectively hit two birds with one stone here!
What placements do the ads run on?
Your ads will be ran 100% through Instagram, and although it does change sometimes, the major placements we run ads on are: Reels, Feed, Stories. Therefore, the best format for your videos is vertical. Although, we've had great results with square and horizontal, YouTube like video formats as well.
What landing page platform do you use?
We've extensively tested multiple platforms. We started with Hypeddit, then used Toneden for a few years, but in 2024 we've began swapping over to FeatureFM. Every platform has their own pros and cons, but we've found FeatureFM to have the most pros and least amount of cons currently. So that's where we host our landing pages. We also have an agency account with them so our clients don't have to pay anything extra out of pocket for a high level artist software.
Do you offer mentorship?
We do offer a video course which you can find here if you're interested in learning how to run ads yourself over the long term. We also are open to one on one coaching and mentorship if we believe that's the best route for you. If interested, just ask and our team will talk it over with you to see if you're a good fit.
Do you offer consultations?
Yes, we offer 30 minute and 60 minute consultations for $200 and $300 respectively. Although, we typically see our clients get more value out of working with us on a campaign rather than scheduling a consultation. But if you're interested in one, feel free to reach out to our team and we can schedule a time to chat!
What release schedule do you recommend?
Baseline, we suggest to all of our clients to aim to drop one new song a month. Then, once you've proven you can drop consistently every month, slowly pick up the pace to one song every 3 weeks, followed by one song every 2 weeks. In this day in age, we've found dropping every 2 weeks to be the most optimal pace if your schedule and budget allows it. That being said, if you cannot maintain that pace for at least a 3-6 month period, then we believe it's better to release songs monthly.Basically, we want to ensure you're staying consistent for a long period of time while also ensuring your monthly budget can sustain that release schedule before we commit to it. We believe if we have to, it's better to be consistent and move a bit slower than it is to drop, drop, drop and then disappear for a few months because you ran out of songs or budget and need to recharge.
